The story of Peranakan’s culture evolution in Singapore in response to the disappearing and transforming cultural landscape in Singapore in the face of modernisation.
The visuals starts with the construction and intricacies of this rich culture, featuring its notable colors, patterns and music. All these are weaved together to form a visual tapestry of what Peranakan was and how it is preserved in the minds of many.
The generative piece evolves over time with kaleidoscopic effects which manipulates the image to grow and symbolically prosper. Its evolution is presented through the building up of elements (its creation), followed by its transformation where it is simplified and stripped off over the years.
